RAPID COOLING SYSTEMS - Removing field heat is the absolute critical first stage for assuring long produce life, appearance and nutrition. Tunnel Cooling, Vacuum Cooling and Hydro Cooling Systems get yiour produce cooled quickly, in some cases in under an hour. Blast air cooling is also used but is less effective than tunnel cooling. Vacuum cooling is specified for leafy produce where the vacuum can affect more plant tissue surface. Hydrocooling is effective first step for many commodities and provides very rapid cooling for produce ready to be cleaned, sorted and stored.
SLOW COOLING - Other commodities can be cooled in a day or two. Getting the initial field-heat out of the product is the most important and may require ten times the amount of cooling during longer term storage when the plant respiration has slowed significantly. USDA describes a two-stage methods where you can oull down the temperature to perhaps 10°C the first day, and finish the cooling on day two. If you stage your harvest into two or more days, we must account for this residual heat as well as the new load being cooled on subsequent days of the harvest.
MAINTENANCE COOLING - This is where the KoolJet Dual-Kool design saves you significantly in energy to operate an effective cold-storage strategy. The KoolJet design uses two independant refrigeration circuits for capacity staging when only one compressor is needed, and redundancy for better uptime capability. We have both of the refrigeration circuits using interleaved coils. This allows ALL of the coil surface to be used even when only one circuit is operating. This saves energy in addition to the compressor staging and is needed in Agricultural Cold-Storage because of the dramatic difference between the harvest heat and maintanance heat.
DEEP FREEZING and BLAST FREEZING - Foods such as meat, shrimp and fish products are often rapidly frozen using blast freezing rooms. KOOLJET manufactures the ultra-low setpoint high capacity refrigeration packages and low-temp high velocity blast freezing air-handlers designed to rapidly freeze products before they are transferred to longer term holding areas, where the demands on the refrigeration system and air movement devices are quire different.
It seems many farms and procesors can use a little more cooling and our single-piece units are perfect for adding some critical cooling quickly and easily.
